During springtime the French Riviera plays host to numerous festivals showcasing some of the regions' vibrant local produce and traditions: The three big-hitters are Menton’s world-renowned Fête du Citron (Lemon Festival), the Mimosa Festival in Mandelieu, and the Grand Carnival in Nice. 

Unmissable Walk around the Cap D’Antibes

The ‘Sentier du Littoral’ is up there with one of the most beautiful walks in the whole of France, let alone the Riviera, and it is very accessible to all who have no mobility issues.  Well-marked and mostly paved it follows the rugged coastline of the Cap D’Antibes with some stunning scenery along the way. If you only pick one walk to do whilst in the French Riviera, make it this one!

French Riviera Christmas Markets, Events & Carols

As the festive season kicks in and Christmas approaches you will find no shortage of Christmas markets and events  along the Riviera.

Alongside the markets there are a selection of choir and carol concerts and I also detail the services at the English-speaking Church in Cannes.

Charlie & the Chocolate Factory

I will hold my hands up and admit I am a bit of a chocoholic…. I will also admit that, despite it being one of my favourite things, I have never actually thought about / discovered how this brown tablet of loveliness is made. I mean, I know you need cocoa beans and they usually come from tropical sounding places like Madagascar, but other than that I am a bit clueless. So on a damp Saturday afternoon we decided to amble through the backstreets of Grasse to find the lovely Maison Duplanteur and get some answers to our questions.

Pause For Thought At The Ruins Of The Malpasset Dam

I love to incorporate something interesting when we are out walkking and this little adventure is no exception. The collapse of the Malpasset dam, in the backhills behind Frejus, remains one of the largest losses of life on French soil during peacetime. You can visit the area which is now a site of remembrance for the 423 people who lost their lives and be awestruck by the remains of the dam and the destruction it caused.
