Family Hike To the Baou de Saint Jeannet - One of the Highest Points on the Coast

Almost everyone who has landed in Nice airport and taken the A8 motorway west towards Cannes / Antibes has seen the imposing and rather magnificent-looking Baou de Saint Jeannet rising up on the right hand side just behind Vence. (Baou is an old Provencal word for big rock)
How about taking the family up there to witness some of the most amazing views the French Riviera has to offer?

"Pick-Your-Own" Fruit & Veg Farm

A fun family pastime is to visit a pick-your-own farm and hand-pick your own wonderfully fresh ingredients for that summer lunch or picnic. One of the few such farms in the region is about a 1 hour drive west of Cannes – La Cueillette du Rocher and it can make up a part of a great day out.

Cannes Beaches

Many would argue that there is no better family activity than going to the beach and Cannes has a great selection for you to choose from.

You may have heard that lots of Cannes’ beaches are private and whilst it is true that a big swathe of the main stretch in Cannes, La Croisette, is taken up with private beaches there are still plenty of free public options to choose from. I am not going to detail all the private areas (briefly - they entail paying €18 for a sun lounger for the day with bar and restaurant service available), but rather I will summarise the public beaches that are free to all.

Let's go underground - Visit Some of the Region's Caves!

Perhaps you’ve been on holiday for a few days now and are looking for something a bit different to do. Or maybe you've been unlucky and have encountered rain. Why not leave the coast behind and head inland towards Grasse to visit one of the cave networks the area has to offer.

There are two main tourist caves – The St Cezaire Caves and the Grotte de Baume Obscure (Le Souterroscope)  in St Vallier de Thiey. They are actually only about 20 minutes drive from one another so you could do both in one day if you so wished.

Easy Family Hike to Notre Dame De L’Afrique in Theoule Sur Mer.

I personally am a very keen hiker and I am delighted that our boys are keen to enjoy this activity with me.  I will never forget our youngest tramping his way up the Alps at the grand old age of 4 declaring ‘You didn’t think I could do it, did you Daddy?!’ as he blazed his way to the top of the mountain leaving many adults in his wake.
