A fun family pastime
is to visit a pick-your-own farm and hand-pick your own wonderfully fresh
ingredients for that summer lunch or picnic. One of the few such farms in the region is about a 1 hour drive west of Cannes – La Cueillette du Rocher and it can
make up a part of a great day out.
What fresher fruit and vegetables can grace your table than
those you’ve pulled up from the earth yourself? You are provided with a basket
each as you arrive and at your leisure you make your way through the different
fields picking whatever takes your fancy.
Prices are calculated by weight in the shop after you’ve collected your fill and they accept cash (or credit card if over €15).They sell pre-picked offerings of the same produce for those who'd rather not pick or are time-constrained and the prices are reasonable.

You will also find a quaint little bar under the shade of a 200 year old lime tree where you can reward yourself with a drink after all your hard work in the fields!

....but beware - the 'cage' for children 'pas sages' (ie. naughty!) |
Dogs are not allowed in the picking fields but if you would
like to bring your four-legged friend they are allowed in bar area only - accompanied at all times and kept on a leash.
It’s free to enter so if you don’t fancy buying anything
there is no obligation. More information can be found on their website Cueillette du Rocher
Here you can find a grid of the different fruit and
vegetables that are available for picking and when. As an example, in July,
you should be able to harvest the following vegetables - Aubergines, Tomatoes, Salad, Melons, Peppers,
Courgettes, Cucumber, Celery and Beetroot as well as plenty of other fruits.

If you are coming from the Issambres or Saint Aygulf direction
the farm is situated at the entrance to the village of Roquebrune sur Argens.
If you are coming from Puget, Le Muy or the A8 motorway
(exit 37) the farm is situated just as you leave the village of Roquebrune –Sur-
Argens. You pass over the last roundabout with an old wine shop converted into
an apartment and continue straight for about 800m in the direction of
Issambres.
In both cases the entrance is located EXACTLY at the road
sign ‘Roquebrune-sur-Argens’ - at the side you will see the board for the farm and you’ll find a big parking area.
You probably won’t spend a whole day picking fruit and
vegetables so here are a few suggestions of some other things to do in the
area:
Hike – challenge yourself to summit the stunning Rocher de
Roquebrune (372m).
There are lots of trails and paths up to the summit with it’s three crosses. It is very exposed so you will need lots of water in the summer and be very careful if it has been raining as areas can be very slippery. There are some rather tricky areas so it is not advised for those with vertigo or young children.
